Risk aversion
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-010375
A behavioral tendency to prefer a certain outcome with a lower, but guaranteed, benefit over an uncertain outcome with a potentially higher benefit but also a greater risk of loss. In toxicology, this concept influences public and regulatory responses to perceived chemical hazards. It can lead to stricter regulations even for low-probability risks.
