A mass storage device format used in portable electronic devices, first specified in 1994. CompactFlash (CF) cards use a 50-pin physical interface and are larger than later memory card formats like SD cards, with typical dimensions of 43 by 36 millimeters. The two main types, Type I and Type II, differ in thickness, with Type I cards being 3.3 mm thick.
