An organization that developed standards for expansion cards for laptop computers, originally known as PC Cards. These cards allowed users to add functionality such as modems, network adapters, or additional storage to portable devices. The standard has largely been superseded by USB and other integrated technologies, but older laptops may still feature PCMCIA slots.
