High-Definition Multimedia Interface, a proprietary audio/video interface for transmitting uncompressed digital data. It connects digital audio/video sources, such as set-top boxes, DVD players, or computers, to compatible digital audio devices, computer monitors, video projectors, or digital televisions. HDMI supports standard, enhanced, or high-definition video plus multi-channel digital audio on a single cable.
