A unit of digital information equal to one million (10^6) bits, denoted by the symbol Mb. It is used to measure data transfer speeds over networks, such as internet connections, and the throughput of storage interfaces. A connection speed of 100 megabits per second (Mbps) is distinct from a file size measured in megabytes (MB), where one megabyte equals eight megabits.
