Byte

A standard unit of digital information in computing that consists of a group of eight bits. As the smallest addressable unit of memory in most computer architectures, a single byte can represent one of 256 different values, from 0 to 255. Larger units of data storage, such as the kilobyte (KB), megabyte (MB), and gigabyte (GB), are defined as multiples of the byte.
