A unit of digital information storage representing one thousand bytes in the decimal (SI) system. In some computing contexts, particularly older ones, it has also been used to refer to 1,024 bytes. The International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC) recommends using kibibyte (KiB) for 1,024 bytes to avoid ambiguity.
