A unit of digital information storage, representing 1,000,000,000,000 bytes, or 10¹² bytes, in the decimal (SI) system. In the binary system, it is often understood as a tebibyte, which is 2⁴⁰ bytes. Modern hard drives and large-scale data storage systems frequently measure their capacity in terabytes.
