Spooling
Term · Computing and IT · MLC-T-CMP-001151
Simultaneous Peripheral Operations Online, a process where data is temporarily stored in a buffer, often on a hard disk, before being sent to a peripheral device like a printer. This allows the CPU to perform other tasks while the peripheral device processes the data at its own speed. Spooling prevents the CPU from waiting for slow I/O operations.
