A single IP address that is shared among multiple network devices, such as servers in a cluster or redundant routers. A Virtual IP address is not tied to a specific physical network interface. If the primary device handling traffic for the VIP fails, a secondary device can take over the address, providing high availability and fault tolerance for network services.
