1. An estimate of the degree to which two sets of variables vary together, with no distinction between dependent and independent variables.

2. A statistical relationship between two or more variables such that systematic changes in the value of one variable are accompanied by systematic changes in the other.

3. Determination of the position of stratigraphically equivalent rock units in different wells, often done by matching the acter of geophysical logs; also the matching of variables, such as log response and core analysis.
