1. (MON-o-MER) A molecule of low molecular weight capable of reacting with identical or different monomers to form polymers.

2. Chemical substance that has the capacity to form links between two or more other molecules.

3. Chemical substance that is capable of forming covalent bonds with two or more like or unlike molecules under the conditions of the relevant polymer-forming reaction used for the particular process.
