1. The circulation of air through a building in order to expel noxious air and admit clean, fresh air.

2. The intentional exchange of indoor air with outdoor air to reduce indoor pollutants, moisture, and odors.

3. The act of admitting fresh air into a space in order to replace stale or contaminated air; achieved by blowing air into the space. Similarly, suction represents the admission of fresh air into an interior space by lowering the pressure outside of the space, thereby drawing the contaminated air outward.

4. The process of supplying and removing air by natural or mechanical means to and from any space. Such air may or may not be conditioned.
