Anchor pylon
Term · Industrial and trades · MLC-T-IND-006751
A self-supporting transmission tower designed to withstand large tensile forces from the conductors, used where a power line changes direction or terminates. Unlike suspension towers that primarily support the vertical weight of the cables, anchor pylons provide a fixed point to resist the lateral pull. These structures are also called strain towers or tension towers and are engineered for specific angles of deviation in the line's route.
