Deadman

A buried anchor, typically a timber, concrete block, or other heavy object, used to provide stability or resistance against lateral forces. It is connected to a structure, such as a retaining wall or a tent pole, by a tie rod or cable. This anchoring method prevents overturning or movement, particularly in temporary or earth-retaining constructions.
