Antipooling

Describing a design feature, particularly on the roofs of covered freight cars like hoppers and boxcars, intended to prevent the accumulation of water. Surfaces are crowned or sloped to promote drainage, protecting the car's structure from corrosion and preventing water from contaminating the lading or freezing in cold weather. This design is a standard feature on modern covered hopper cars, which have a distinct rounded or peaked roof profile to effectively shed precipitation.
