Antiplane
Term · Industrial and trades · MLC-T-IND-000228
Describing a type of deformation or stress state where all displacement occurs parallel to the crack front, perpendicular to the plane containing the crack. This mode of deformation is often associated with shear loading. Antiplane shear is one of the three fundamental modes of crack propagation in fracture mechanics.
