Term · Industrial and trades · MLC-T-IND-005711

A fine, parallel groove or scratch on a surface, often resulting from mechanical abrasion, wear, or a manufacturing process. These marks can indicate the direction of force or movement that caused them, and their presence is sometimes a sign of material fatigue or improper machining. In metallurgy, striations on a fracture surface can reveal the crack propagation path.
