Stretching course

A layer of bricks or masonry units laid with their longest dimension parallel to the face of the wall, exposing the stretcher face. This arrangement is common in brickwork and provides a strong bond along the length of the wall. It is a standard course type, contrasting with a header course where the short end of the brick is exposed.
