Attle

Waste rock or other non-valuable material removed from a mine during the extraction of ore. This refuse, which does not contain enough mineral content to be processed economically, is piled on the surface in spoil heaps or used to backfill worked-out sections of the mine. The term originates from the historic tin mining industry in Cornwall, England.
