Banjo
Term · Industrial and trades · MLC-T-IND-006776
A long-handled shovel with a large, round, and slightly dished blade, used for moving loose materials such as coal, ore, or muck. Its shape, resembling the musical instrument, allows it to carry a substantial amount of material with each scoop. The banjo shovel is distinct from a square-point or spade shovel, which are designed for digging into compacted ground rather than scooping loose debris.
