Vanning
Term · Industrial and trades · MLC-T-IND-006413
A manual method of mineral separation that uses a shallow pan, called a van, and water to concentrate heavy minerals from crushed ore. The operator agitates the pan in a specific motion, causing the denser mineral particles to settle at the bottom while lighter waste material is washed over the rim. This technique is a form of gravity concentration.
