Steam shovel

A heavy construction machine that uses steam power to operate a digging bucket and boom for excavation work. It was a precursor to modern hydraulic excavators, widely used in large-scale projects like canal building and railway construction during the late 19th and early 20th centuries. The steam engine provided the power for all its movements, including hoisting, crowding, and swinging.
