Harveyize

To apply a surface-hardening process to steel, particularly armor plate, by carburizing one side and then quenching. This method creates a hard, wear-resistant outer layer while maintaining a tougher, more ductile core. The Harvey process was widely used for naval armor in the late 19th and early 20th centuries.
