Bedding

A layer of absorbent organic or inorganic material placed on the floor of animal enclosures to provide comfort, insulation, and moisture absorption for livestock. Common materials include straw, wood shavings, sawdust, sand, and recycled paper products, selected based on animal needs, cost, and availability. Soiled bedding is periodically removed and managed as part of the farm's waste system, often being composted for use as a soil amendment.
