Bimetal
Term · Industrial and trades · MLC-T-IND-000552
A material composed of two distinct metals joined together, usually by bonding, cladding, or welding, to combine their unique properties. This combination allows for enhanced performance characteristics not achievable with a single metal, such as improved corrosion resistance, electrical conductivity, or thermal expansion. A common application is in bimetallic strips for thermostats, where differential thermal expansion causes bending.
