Expansion cleat

Term · Industrial and trades · MLC-T-IND-002119

A metal bracket or clip designed to secure building components, such as roof panels or flashing, while permitting movement caused by thermal expansion and contraction. The cleat is fixed to the substrate, and its design allows the attached material to slide relative to the anchor point without compromising the connection. This prevents buckling, warping, or stress fractures in long runs of metal roofing and siding.
