Bit interval

The duration of time allocated for the transmission of a single binary digit, or bit, in a digital communication system. It is the reciprocal of the bit rate, indicating how long each bit occupies the transmission medium. For example, a system with a bit rate of 1 megabit per second has a bit interval of 1 microsecond.
