Bit stuffing
Term · Industrial and trades · MLC-T-IND-000571
A technique in data transmission where extra bits are inserted into a data stream to prevent the accidental creation of control sequences or to maintain synchronization. This process adds non-information bits to the data, which are later removed by the receiver. It is commonly used in protocols like High-Level Data Link Control (HDLC) to avoid flag sequences within the data payload.
