Bucking bar

A heavy, hand-held metal block used in riveting to absorb the impact of the rivet gun and form the shop head of a rivet. It is pressed against the tail of the rivet, providing a solid mass that causes the rivet material to upset and expand. Bucking bars come in different shapes and weights to suit specific riveting applications and access constraints.
