Shop head
Term · Industrial and trades · MLC-T-IND-005232
The head formed on a rivet when it is driven, made by upsetting the plain end of the shank against a bucking bar or with a set, also called the buck-tail. The head the rivet already had when supplied is the factory head. Some older usage reverses this and applies shop head to the head formed at the rivet factory.
