Buffer up

To couple railway cars together using their buffers, which are shock-absorbing devices located at each end of the car. This action creates a continuous train formation, allowing for the transfer of motive power and braking forces throughout the consist. Proper buffering prevents excessive slack action and damage to rolling stock during movement.
