Coupling
Term · Industrial and trades · MLC-T-IND-001392
The transfer of electrical energy from one circuit segment to another, which can be either intentional or unintentional. Intentional coupling is designed into components like transformers and directional couplers to pass signals, while unintentional coupling, such as crosstalk between adjacent wires, introduces noise and interference. The degree of interaction is quantified by a coupling coefficient, which ranges from 0 (no coupling) to 1 (complete coupling).
