Drag bolt
Term · Industrial and trades · MLC-T-IND-001834
A heavy removable bolt that passes through the drawbar of a railway vehicle and holds the coupling together, so the pull between vehicles is carried through it. It belongs to the older coupling gear linking a locomotive to its tender, or one carriage to the next. Unlike a track fastener such as a rail spike, it works in the coupling and does not fix rails to sleepers.
