Lag bolt

A heavy-duty fastener with a coarse, sharp-pointed thread and a hexagonal or square head, designed for securing heavy timber or attaching objects to wood. Unlike a machine bolt, it does not require a nut and is driven directly into a pre-drilled pilot hole. Lag bolts provide strong holding power in structural applications.
