Assholed

Term · Industrial and trades · MLC-T-IND-006761

Describing a fastener head, such as on a bolt or screw, that has been stripped or rounded out, preventing a standard wrench or driver from gaining a grip. This damage occurs from using the wrong size tool, a worn tool, or applying excessive torque to a corroded or over-tightened fastener. Removing such a fastener requires specialized tools like locking pliers, stud extractors, or even welding a nut onto the damaged head to provide a new surface to turn.
