Nut

A block of metal, usually hexagonal or square, with a threaded hole in the center designed to mate with a bolt, screw, or stud to fasten parts together. In marine applications, nuts are made from corrosion-resistant materials like stainless steel, silicon bronze, or hot-dip galvanized steel to withstand saltwater exposure. The thread type, such as Unified National Coarse (UNC) or Fine (UNF), must match the bolt for a secure connection.
