Carbon black

A finely divided form of amorphous carbon produced by the incomplete combustion or thermal decomposition of hydrocarbons. It is primarily used as a reinforcing filler in rubber products, particularly tires, to improve strength and durability. Carbon black also serves as a pigment in inks, paints, and plastics.
