Cardinal

Relating to the four main points of the compass: north, south, east, and west. In marine navigation, cardinal marks are sea marks (buoys or beacons) placed to indicate the direction of safe water relative to a hazard. Each of the four cardinal marks (north, east, south, west) has distinct colors, top-marks, and light rhythms to show which side of the mark a vessel should pass.
