Chip-on-Board: A method of packaging integrated circuits where the bare semiconductor die is directly mounted onto a printed circuit board (PCB) and then electrically connected by wire bonding. The chip and wire bonds are subsequently encapsulated with an epoxy resin for protection. This technique reduces the overall size and weight of the electronic assembly compared to traditional packaged components.
