Crankweb
Term · Industrial and trades · MLC-T-IND-001421
The portion of a crankshaft that connects a main journal to a crankpin, forming the 'throw' of the crank. It acts as a lever arm, converting the reciprocating motion of the piston and connecting rod into the rotational motion of the crankshaft. Crankwebs are forged or cast as part of the crankshaft and are shaped to provide counterbalance, sometimes with drilled passages for lubricating oil to reach the connecting rod bearing.
