Term · Industrial and trades · MLC-T-IND-001419
An axle of a steam locomotive that has cranks formed in it like a crankshaft, so that it carries the driving wheels and also takes the drive from the connecting rods of inside cylinders. The cranked sections are forged in one piece with the axle, and the rods work on its crank pins. It differs from an engine crankshaft in that it also carries the wheels.
