Stub axle

A short, non-rotating shaft on which a wheel or hub assembly is mounted, allowing it to rotate freely. It is a component of the steering and suspension system, particularly in front-wheel-drive vehicles or on the non-driven rear wheels of other cars. The stub axle is bolted to the suspension knuckle and contains the spindle that supports the wheel bearings.
