Stub

A short section of transmission line or waveguide that is connected to a main line and terminated in a short circuit or open circuit. Stubs are used in radio frequency (RF) circuits for impedance matching, filtering, or to create resonant circuits. Their electrical length, rather than physical length, determines their reactive properties.
