Crosscut

A horizontal passageway driven through a rock mass, intersecting the main ore body or vein at an angle. This tunnel connects different parts of a mine, providing access for ventilation, transportation, or exploration. Crosscuts are distinct from drifts, which follow the strike of an ore body.
