Cutinite

A type of maceral, which is an organic constituent of coal, derived from the waxy outer protective layer (cuticle) of plant leaves and stems. It is characterized by its resistance to decay and its high hydrogen content. Cutinite typically appears as thin, elongated bands in coal under a microscope.
