De-emphasis

A process in audio and radio systems that reduces the amplitude of high-frequency components in a signal after they have been boosted by a pre-emphasis circuit. This technique is used to restore the original frequency balance and reduce noise that was introduced during transmission or recording. It is commonly employed in FM radio broadcasting and analog tape recording.
