Decollimation
Term · Industrial and trades · MLC-T-IND-001625
The process or state of light rays losing their parallel alignment after having been collimated. This occurs when a collimated beam passes through an imperfect optical system, encounters scattering, or diverges due to diffraction. Decollimation results in a spreading of the light beam, reducing its intensity and focus over distance.
