Afocal
Term · Industrial and trades · MLC-T-IND-000114
Describing an optical system where light rays entering parallel emerge parallel, meaning the system has an infinite focal length. This configuration does not form an image at a finite distance. Telescopes and beam expanders often employ afocal designs to magnify or reduce the diameter of a light beam without creating an intermediate image.
