Disbudding

The practice of preventing or stopping the growth of horns in young livestock, particularly calves, goats, and sheep. This procedure is performed to reduce injuries to other animals and handlers, and to facilitate easier management within a herd. Methods include caustic paste, hot iron, or surgical removal of horn buds.
